Information, Advice and sources of support for young people in Suffolk

Power of Youth Day Tuesday 2nd June

Every June we support Power of Youth Day which marks how young people across the country can come together and make a real difference to their community through social action.

This year’s theme is focussed on ‘Common Ground’ and looks at how, in a world that can feel increasingly divided, common ground can help us to stand together, with the belief that young people have the power to shape the world around them.
By giving young people a voice, and listening to them, we can grow stronger communities, make better decisions and build brighter futures.

For Power of Youth Day 2026, the #iWill Movement is challenging organisations to step forward and share how they’re turning belief into action – and how they’re embedding youth power into the heart of their work through the Power of Youth Charter.

What is going on with Youth Power in Suffolk, and how do I get involved?

We (The Source Team) work alongside schools, children’s services and organisations in Suffolk to empower young people’s voices and help them to be heard by decision makers and service providers.
If you’re a young person who want to make real changes to their community, here’s some ways you can get involved:

  • Suffolk’s Youth Social Action Programme – is helping young people in Suffolk to turn their ideas into real funded projects that will make a difference to their communities through a series of ‘Hackathon’ events led by young people.

  • If you’re a young person who has lived experience of being in care or are a care leaver – did you know that you can help Suffolk County Council to recruit and select staff who will be working in Childrens Services.
