“Who are we?”
We are a group of unique young people, who have experience of Suffolk County Council services or partner organisations (like social workers, school nurses and support workers). We have a passion for making sure that the right person is in the right job.

“What do we get up to?”
The decisions that we make as a youth recruitment panel help to recruit to roles such as social workers and school nurses and even executive directors. We sit on an interview panel as an expert by experience.
By sitting on a young person’s panel you will:
- Work alongside professionals from Suffolk County Council and have your voice heard
- Help make decisions that affect you and other young people in Suffolk
- Sit in on interviews and share your opinions as someone with real-life experience
- Help decide who gets the job in services that support children and young people
- You’ll learn what to expect in a real job interview and build skills that will help you in the future..
Why is it important? It’s really important that young people get to interview staff because candidates need to be able to respond and communicate with young people.
“What do I get?”
- We will pay for your travel, lunch and refreshments
- We will support you on the day
- We will let you know what is happening on the day and who you will be interviewing and what questions you would like to ask?
- We will provide you with an online voucher for your time( the supporting member of staff will inform you what the current rates and what vouchers are available)
- We will provide you with the training you need
- Feel valued, empowered, and build your confidence!
“How do I get involved?”
Are you are aged between 14-19 years old (and up to 25 with a disability, additional need) or are a care experienced young person)?
Do you have experience of Suffolk County Council and partner organisation services?
