Background
21 Young Hearts Cafe (21YH) is a newly formed Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Suffolk providing employment and volunteering opportunities to young people with disabilities.
Our mission is to encourage, empower, and support young people with disabilities to build core life and transferable skills in a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment.
We believe that every person deserves the opportunity to be their best self, and that disability should never be a barrier to success.
What Is 21 Young Hearts?
The café will operate seven days a week, offering barista coffee, tea, cakes, sandwiches, toasties and light refreshments. Volunteers and trainees will take part in a structured training programme, linked to apprenticeship pathways, enabling them to build confidence and develop skills in:
- Food preparation
- Customer service
- Money handling
- Teamwork
The café is about breaking down barriers that society puts in place and helping others believe in themselves. We see this as just the beginning—working with local employers to ensure every young person has the chance to thrive.
Our Pathways
21 Young Hearts offers three free engagement routes for young people:
- Volunteering
- Traineeships
- Supported Employment
These are designed to meet the needs of each individual, building a person-centred approach that can lead to long-term job placements. Our café is the first step in a broader employment journey.
We are building partnerships with local employers to create tailored placements and transitions for participants once they are ready to progress beyond the café.
