The Pros and Cons of Home Education:
Pros:
- I get to organise my own timetable
- I have lots more time to explore and follow my interests, and learn about subjects that I might not be able to learn about at school at my age.
- I feel more free to be who I want to be, for example, I can wear my own clothes every day and listen to music while I’m learning.
- I get to meet a greater variety of people because I go to lots of different clubs and classes where there are often children of all ages.
Cons:
- If you used to go to school before home educating it might be harder staying connected with your old school friends.
- Some of the subjects you are able to study for GCSE may be limited – this depends on the access you have to tutoring and resources to complete the course like Design and Technology.
- I can’t think of any other cons because I love home education!
Home education really works for me, but it was a big decision and it was really helpful for me and my family to speak to other home educating families to find out more about it.
