“Who are we?”
Our group is a safe and empowered space for unaccompanied asylum seeking children and young people (UASC) who have been in care, experienced the care system, or are a care leaver.
Arriving in a different country and trying to understand a whole new culture and language is extremely difficult so we’ve created this page to help others!

“What do we do?”
It is an opportunity to meet other young people, and shape change across many services that affect you across Suffolk!
This may look like creating campaigns on things important to you, to having your opinion heard in influencing local policy. You will meet other young people, and also attend social activities.

Hello, my name is Yousef. I’m from Sudan.
I would like to talk about Our Group. Firstly, I want to thank every single member of this group. We are presenting ourselves as a way to ‘be active’ For example: how to be associated with positive community, fun adventure activities, and discovering skills and challenges.
Our Group can allow for, a period of time in which you can meet new people and discover new ideas in an active, social setting. It may help to develop social skills and open up a new sport or activity you thought you wouldn’t have had an interest in before discovering it.
Our Group often encapsulate various forms of self-care techniques (such as playing music, sports activities, art workshops, travelling to new places…etc.) particularly as many groups are becoming more aware of the importance of caring for oneself and keeping their mental health in mind.
There isn’t much academic research in the area of self-care for young people who are living with mental health issues. We are trying to find out more about what works for different people so we can better advise other young people what to try.
I highly recommend for those who haven’t joined this group to join it as soon as they can.
Best wishes ❤️
