Information, Advice and sources of support for young people in Suffolk

Suffolks UKYP MYP’s – What We’ve been up to…

A message from Suffolk’s new UK Youth Parliament representative for Mid Suffolk, Dayah Brunero.

I have visited the bury st Edmund’s hackathon at county upper school recently to see what young people have been brainstorming and what they want to change in their local area. I found it mainly to be about transport and extracurricular activities that young people want in place, especially with the new social media ban in place and being concerned there isn’t anything to do. I’m looking forward to hopefully attending more hackathons to stay in the loop and promote the source website through posters and business cards.

A message from Suffolk’s new UK Youth Parliament representative for Suffolk Coastal and Waveney, Jemima Pomfrett.

Hi it’s Jemima. This is what I’ve done in my first month as an MYP.

I went to our induction day and met the other MYP’s where we all got to meet Sarah Jayne ( the executive director of children and young people’s services for Suffolk) And got to discuss important topics with her.

At the beginning of the month, I was given the opportunity to go to the voting ballot in Lowestoft and got to meet some of my local area’s representatives

I attended my first UKYP meeting over zoom and learnt some important information about the role.

This Wednesday I went to the Dora Love competition and saw the amazing tributes to the Holocaust/inequality. My contribution was teaching the year 7s in my year about how things build up if you don’t stand up for people.

Also, Happy Pride month to the LGBTQIA+ community!
