October celebrates Black History Month

Black History month recognises the significant contributions Black people have made to British society.

The lived experiences of Black people show a rich heritage of culture, achievements, challenges and resilience which is still evident every day, every month, and every year, far beyond Black History Month.

The theme for 2024 is “Reclaiming Narratives”, which is about taking time to honour the achievements and contributions of Black individuals across the world. It’s a chance to learn more about the stories of Black people that may have been ignored, overlooked, or misrepresented in the past.
