Information, Advice and sources of support for young people in Suffolk

Someone in My Corner - Well-being Competition

What does it mean to have someone in your corner?

To have someone in your corner means to have someone who is supporting you and helping you in some way.

“It’s good to know that whatever happens, whatever you are going through, that someone is there to support you and be in your corner. This is especially important to our emotional health and well-being.”

James from The Source website team shares below what it means to him to have someone in his corner who is there to help him when his feeling low…

How to enter our ‘Someone in My Corner’ Competition

We would like young people to think of a time when they had someone in their corner helping them ( a friend, family member, carer, teacher, youth worker, etc) and to tell us in a creative way about how it feels to have someone in your corner helping you and how did it help support your emotional well-being?

Competition entries can be in the form of:

  • Creative Writing – e.g. A poem, short story (MAX 500 words)
  • Artwork – A drawing, painting or doodle.

There will be three age groups for entries:

  • 5 – 10 Year Olds
  • 11 – 15 Year Olds
  • 16 – 25 Year Olds

The competition winner of each age group will receive a £25 online voucher of their choice.

All competition entries will be displayed on The Source website and in a public emotional health and wellbeing exhibition at Endeavour House at Suffolk County Council, to mark World Mental Health Day in October.
