Advent 30 Day What's Up Challenge 4 - Talk to someone about how you feel about the festive holiday!

Are you feeling happy, worried, stressed or excited about this time of year.

Why is this good for your emotional health and wellbeing?

It’s good to be open about our feelings – especially during Winter when there is less sunshine and cold, dull weather that can impact our mood.

Try talking to a friend or relative about how you are feeling about the Christmas holiday break – not everyone will understand what you are going through, but letting your feelings out will help release tension, and will stop you feeling alone with your thoughts.
Talking is also the best form of therapy because when we share our thoughts and feelings with someone we trust it helps us to find solutions to problems, remove negative thoughts and feel more at ease with ourselves.

How to complete this challenge?

Tell someone how you are feeling about the holiday season with a trusted adult, friend or relative.

If you wish to talk to someone anonymously, the below helplines and online support may help:

  • Go to the Kooth website: www.kooth.com (register on the website for free 121 chat message service)
  • Speak to Childline call 0800 11 11 (24/7 if you are under 19)
  • Text SHOUT to 85258 (24/7)

If you or a friend are emotionally distressed you can contact the NHS Crisis Support Line, call 111 and press Option 2 (24/7)
