Information, Advice and sources of support for young people in Suffolk

Advent 30 Day What's Up Challenge

The Christmas holiday season is often associated with joy, celebration, and togetherness. However, for some of us, it can be a time of increased stress, anxiety, and loneliness. This year, to help support young people’s emotional wellbeing during Christmas and through to the New Year, we have created this Advent 30 Day What’s Up Challenge.

What is the Advent 30 day What’s Up Challenge?

The Advent 30 Day What’s Up Challenge is based on the original, popular 30 Day What’s Up Challenge campaign and blog which is currently available on The Source website for young people to do.

Each day from the 1st of December leading up to Christmas and New Year, young people can take part in doing one of the below daily challenges which are designed to promote emotional wellbeing among young people during the Christmas season – even if your family doesn’t celebrate Christmas you can still join in.

How will the challenges help support my emotional wellbeing?

The challenges range from simple acts of self-care to more interactive tasks like reaching out to a friend or family member and expressing gratitude, and are inspired by the ‘five ways to wellbeing’ which are known to support your emotional health.

These are – ‘Be Active’, ‘Give’, ‘Keep Learning’, ‘Take Notice’ and ‘Connect with others’.

How do I complete the challenges?

Click on a daily challenge box below and it will give you ideas and resources for how to complete each challenge, and information about how the challenge will help improve your mood.

The rules:

  • There are no rules – you can do all the daily challenges throughout December, or you can pick out some to do – it’s up to you.
  • There is no right or wrong way for how you complete each challenge – just have fun and see if they boost your mood!
  • The challenges will help you to try something different and connect more with those around you.
