Training

On this page we provide information on

  1. What is a training provider and local training providers
  2. Contact Youth Support Services
  3. Support if you are over 18

What is a Training Provider?

If you’re not currently in employment or education, training is a great way to improve your skills, give you things to add onto your CV and boost your chances of getting a job!

Interested?

There are many organisations that offer support and mini vocational programmes where you spend some time in the class room and some time in a work environment.

Training Providers offer courses in a smaller centre which can help build confidence, provide work experience and enable you to improve your maths and English.

Below are links to local training providers to explore.

You can find out about more local training providers on the Apprenticeships Suffolk website.

The leaflet below offers an overview of some of the courses and training providers.

Contact Youth Support Services (16-18)

If you feel like you would like to explore your options, contact Youth Support Services (16-18). A Young Person’s Worker or Young Person’s Coach can help you decide which training provider is right for you and get you a place on a course.

Are you over 18?

You may be eligible for a free level 3 course. Find out more: Free courses for jobs – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The Adult Learning Service offer a range of courses from numeracy and literacy and employability skills to community and family learning for people 19 – 23 years old.

What are the benefits of the Adult Learning Service?

  • Gain a qualification
  • Learn a new skill
  • Improve your career pathway and your wellbeing

They offer concessions on some courses, and you might be eligible to take the course for free!

If you’re new to online learning or don’t have equipment to access online courses, speak to them and they’ll see what they can do to support you to get started.
