Information, Advice and sources of support for young people in Suffolk

Someone in My Corner - Well-being Competition

About the Competition

Over the Summer break The Source team hosted an art-wellbeing competition for children and young people in Suffolk.

We asked children and young people to enter by writing a poem or drawing a picture to show what it means to have someone in their corner.

What does it mean to have someone in your corner?

To have someone in your corner means to have someone who is supporting you and helping you in some way.

“It’s good to know that whatever happens, whatever you are going through, that someone is there to support you and be in your corner. This is especially important to our emotional health and well-being.”

James from The Source website team shares below what it means to him to have someone in his corner who is there to help him when his feeling low…

What the young people told us helps support their well-being

We asked the young people entering our art well-being competition to tell us…

What makes you feel better when you feel sad or worried?

Here’s what they told us…

“Having amazing friends to talk to, just being with good people and hugging my cat.”

“I like to spend time with my family or get outside in nature. I like being in nature because I like hearing the wind rustling the trees and the birds singing, it makes me feel calm and helps me think.”

“My family.”

Spending time with my friends and playing board games or video games.”

“A hug”

The questions in the video can be adapted to start many fun conversations
