“How are you getting on since leaving school?”
Suffolk County Council Children and Young People’s Services have to keep in touch with all young people in Suffolk who have left school.
This is to help support young people to access further education and employment opportunities.

The information we receive from you is reported back to the Department for Education and the data helps to shape support services available to young people in Suffolk.

What is Raising the Participation Age?
From 2015, young people are required to continue in learning or training until they are age 18.
Raising the participation age (RPA) does not mean young people must stay in school.
What are the options for 16-18 learning?
- full-time education, such as school, college or with a training provider.
- apprenticeships, traineeship or work-based learning.
- part-time education or training if they are employed, self employed or volunteering for at least 20 hours a week.
